David Harriman is a Doctor of Pharmacy with hospital practice spanning neonatal, pediatric, and adult care. His work includes intensive care rounding, complex medication management, and investigation of medication errors and hospital systems.
He completed a one-year postgraduate pharmacy residency at VA Southern Nevada and held Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) certification from 2017 to 2024. From 2015 to 2026, his hospital practice spanned adult intensive care, oncology and chemotherapy verification, and neonatal and pediatric care. At Sunrise, an 834-bed hospital, he rounded in pediatric and cardiac intensive care and managed staffing, medication verification, and compounding workflows during charge pharmacist shifts.
Harriman is a coauthor of research on community pharmacy antibiotic and vaccination programs published in the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (2014).
Clinical decisions
Harriman has managed medication therapy across neonatal, pediatric, and adult hospital care, including intensive care, oncology, trauma, burns, and patients receiving dialysis or ECMO. His work included antibiotic and anticoagulant dosing, treatment monitoring, chemotherapy checks, and complex IV nutrition. That experience informs his review of what was ordered, what monitoring showed, and how the clinical team responded.
Medication safety & systems
He has conducted root cause analyses and medication error reviews, written up systemic problems, and managed staffing and compounding workflows during charge pharmacist shifts. For a case review, that means examining the checks, information flow, and escalation processes surrounding an event alongside the individual medication decisions.
Litigation experience
As a self-represented party in a contested trust proceeding, Harriman successfully opposed a demurrer, conducted witness examinations across four bench trial days, and prepared motions, discovery, and trial exhibits. The trial remains ongoing.
Systems experience
He used Meditech for medication orders, VigiLanz to document clinical interventions, and DoseEdge to verify compounded IV preparations. He has worked within the workflows that produce these records.
Clinical background & recognition
Clinical work at Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center included NICU and PICU coverage and pediatric and cardiac intensive care rounding. Adult experience included oncology, trauma, burns, and patients receiving CRRT or ECMO. Operational work included charge pharmacist duties, medication verification, and compounding workflow.
Sunrise recognized his interception of medication errors before patient harm with hospital-wide GREAT SAVE awards in October 2020 and November 2021.
